At Lawn Care Solutions & Snow Removal, LLC, we’re out in the field every day and there’s a lot people don’t realize about what actually goes into a good lawn or landscape. Here are some fun (and useful) facts about what we do 👇
🌱 1. Most Lawn Problems Start Underground A yard can look fine on top but if the soil underneath is compacted or uneven, grass won’t grow right. That’s why we use tools like a Harley rake to break up soil, smooth it out, and prep it properly before seeding.
💧 2. Water Always Wins If water is running toward your house… it will find a way in eventually. Drainage isn’t about guessing—it’s about: Slope Flow direction Proper pipe install One small grading change can fix a major problem.
🚜 3. A Smooth Yard Doesn’t Happen by Accident That clean, flat finish you see on a new lawn? That takes multiple steps: Rough grading Final grading Soil prep Seeding & straw Skipping even one step usually shows later.
🪨 4. Not All Stone is the Same We use different materials for different jobs: #53 stone = strong base (great for driveways) #8 stone = drainage Screenings = leveling Using the wrong one can cause sinking or drainage issues
🌧️ 5. Erosion Happens Faster Than You Think One heavy rain can wash out a freshly graded yard if it’s not protected. That’s why we use: Seed Straw Erosion control blankets It locks everything in place while it grows.
🏡 6. Your Yard Should Drain Away from Your House Simple rule: water should always move away from your home. If it doesn’t, you’ll eventually see: Wet basements Standing water Foundation issues
❄️ 7. Salt Works Best When Used Correctly More salt doesn’t always mean better. Proper application depends on: Temperature Ice conditions Timing Using too much can actually waste material and money.
🔧 8. Prep Work is 80% of the Job The finish is what you seebut prep is what makes it last. Most of our time goes into: Cutting grade Removing debris Fixing low spots * Getting everything right before install
👍 Final Thought Anyone can throw down seed or stone but doing it right is what makes it last. That’s what we focus on every day.
